Fig 69 · Working principle
A field, in motion.
Transport moves a shape. Diffusion smooths it. Change the equation and watch the same field respond.

Reduced motion is enabled. Use the time slider to explore still frames.
The profile travels while its peaks fade. Its mean stays constant.
What this model shows
Each pin samples a dimensionless field on a periodic one-metre domain. The highlighted cap and the front dial read the same sample. No heat enters or leaves; the right boundary wraps to the left.
uₜ + v uₓ = κ uₓₓ
The exact solution combines two cosine modes. Velocity moves them; diffusivity damps the shorter mode faster. This linear teaching model does not represent shocks, turbulent flow or singularity claims.
